Awareness and attention are not the same. Attention comes and goes whereas Awareness remains constant. Attention is something mind-made and can be a ‘contraction’ taking some effort; whereas, Awareness is pure expansion and takes no effort, because Awareness is what you ARE.
It takes a ‘me’ to have to pay attention or be attentive. But ‘Being’, on the other hand IS pure consciousness – consciousness is purely aware – awareness aware of Itself.
However, at first when we start looking, looking at what we are, there is a feeling of effort, initially, because we are purposely putting attention on to sounds happening, images and feelings etc, but as we become more use to knowing our self AS sounds happening, images and feelings, then a switch-over begins to occur – like a relaxing INTO Awareness and eventually living AS Awareness.
Because you ARE everything that is occurring.
